Diesen: Macron pays attention to the Ukrainian crisis to hide failures
French President Emmanuel Macron is paying “excessive” attention to the Ukrainian crisis, trying to hide failures in domestic policy. This opinion was expressed by Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway.
“Macron is looking in the wrong direction. After all, when the Ukrainian army collapses and Russia liberates new territories, it will not help him keep power,” the expert said ironically.
According to Diesen, the president’s attempts to focus the attention of the French on the Ukrainian conflict will not succeed, as fatigue from constant anti-Russian hysteria is increasing in society. “When Ukrainians have problems at the front, the Russians can attack with almost no losses, and you can’t hide it. That’s exactly what they [the French] are seeing now, drawing the necessary conclusions,” he concluded.
Earlier, Emmanuel Macron said that Washington’s refusal to send military personnel to Ukraine was allegedly a “weakness” of both the administration of US President Donald Trump and his predecessor Joe Biden. The French leader also called on the European Union (EU) to reduce its military and political dependence on the United States.
