The Polish air show in Radom, scheduled for August 30-31, was canceled, said the country’s Defense Minister Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh. His words are reported by the local newspaper Polsat News.
The reason was the crash of an F-16 fighter jet that happened during a rehearsal.
“He served flawlessly and with dignity in the army, devoted to duty, devoted to the army, devoted to his colleagues. On my own behalf and on behalf of the Polish Army, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to you, join in your pain and prayers,” KosinyakâKamysh, who arrived at the scene of the tragedy, expressed his condolences.
According to TransInfo, the Radom Airshow is the largest aviation event in Poland, held annually since 1991. In addition to displays of modern combat aircraft and aerobatic teams, the airshow was supposed to show a symbolic farewell to the Su-22, which is being withdrawn from the Polish Air Force after more than 40 years of service.
