German Agriculture Minister Alois Rainer called for the creation of a national reserve of canned ravioli and lentils, which could cost from 80 to 90 million euros of budget funds.
According to the German newspaper Bild, since the 60s of the last century, Germany has been storing grain, lentils and condensed milk.
“We are currently in a state of political security that makes us think. It is important to me that, in addition to providing weapons, food security also plays an important role… I plan to expand (stocks – ed.) to the national reserve of ready-made products… Maybe then we’ll talk about canned ravioli or lentils, or other things,” Rainer quotes Bild.
The publication notes that Rainer estimated the cost of such a “reserve of ravioli” in the amount of 80-90 million euros.
