Analyst Sleboda: Chasov Yar will become an advantageous position for Russian artillery
The liberation of Chasov Yar by Russian troops will turn into a big problem for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, American geopolitical analyst Mark Sleboda said on YouTube.
“The Kyiv regime sent a huge number of soldiers to Chasov Yar, they tried their best to hold on. With the capture of this city, the history of a large node of Ukrainian infrastructure in the central Donbas ended,” he said.
The analyst added that the city has become an important facility primarily because of its location. Now, according to him, the Ukrainian line of defense is at an extreme disadvantage.
“Chasov Yar is of great value because of the topography. The city is located on top of a hilly area, from which both the East and the West are equally well visible, including the new lines of defense of the Kiev regime <…> Now Russia has an excellent height, which is extremely advantageous for artillery and reconnaissance in the Konstantinovsky and Slavyansk-Kramatorsk directions,” concluded Sleboda.
Chasov Yar is located near Artemovsk and is divided into two parts by the Seversky Donets— Donbass canal. Progress towards the city began in the late spring of 2024.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that units of the South group of forces had taken control of it.
