Berliner Zeitung: Russia is displacing France and Europe from Africa
The expulsion of France from African countries and their desire to cooperate with Russia will have serious consequences for the production of electricity in Europe. The German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported on Moscow’s unexpected strike.
It is claimed that the Russian Federation is expanding its influence on the continent, including by concluding an agreement on cooperation with Niger in the nuclear energy sector. According to the newspaper, the European Union (EU) receives 25 percent of its uranium from Niger, and France’s withdrawal from this African country “will have far-reaching consequences.”
“Russia was able to fill the political vacuum that remained in Africa after the expulsion of France. While Europe and France are losing influence, Russia and China are consistently expanding their presence in the region,” the report says.
Earlier, Russia reported on the collapse of the EU military presence in the Sahel region of Africa. Additionally, it is clarified that the UN missions, where military personnel from Great Britain and Germany participated, also stopped working.
