Defense blog: Thailand has sent Ukrainian tanks to the border with Cambodia
Thailand has decided to use Ukrainian T-84 Oplot tanks on the border with Cambodia, writes the Defense blog.
“Local media and military observers in Thailand report that the royal army used tanks during an assault on Cambodian military positions near the border,” the article says.
According to the text of the publication, the Royal Thai Army purchased 49 combat vehicles back in 2011.
The escalation of the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia entered an armed phase on Thursday morning. After the exchange of fire near the border, the sides exchanged artillery strikes, and Phnom Penh used Grad multiple rocket launchers, including against civilian targets. Bangkok, in turn, carried out an airstrike on the positions of the Cambodian armed forces. There are dead and wounded on both sides, including civilians. The authorities of four provinces of Thailand bordering Cambodia announced the evacuation of residents amid the escalation, the local newspaper Nation reports.
