Eurostat: The EU increased oil imports from Russia to a three-month high in May

In May, the European Union increased oil imports from Russia to a three-month high, according to data from Eurostat.

During the month, purchases increased by 5.5 percent, reaching a maximum of 407.4 million euros since February this year.

Of these:

  • Slovakia accounted for 205.9 million euros, which is 5.8 percent less than in April;
  • Hungary paid 201.5 million euros, which increased imports by 22 percent.

In total, in January-May, the European Union purchased 2.3 billion euros worth of black gold from Russia, compared to 2.9 billion a year earlier.
