Sarah Grace Patrick, a 17-year-old Georgia girl, has been arrested and charged with the murders of her mother and stepfather. This is reported by the English Daily Mail.
According to police, the couple’s six-year-old daughter was the first to find the bodies of her parents in bed. She told her older sister Sarah, who was in the house that night, and called 911. There were no signs of forced entry into the house, and nothing was taken.
The girl’s “tearful” speech at the funeral of her stepfather and mother helped to expose Sarah.
Sarah Grace Patrick, 17, was arrested on Tuesday, months after Kristin Brock, 41, and her husband James, 45, were found with fatal gunshot wounds at their home in Carrollton, 45 miles west of Atlanta, on February 20. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the high school student, accompanied by her father, surrendered to police this week after a warrant was issued for her arrest,” the newspaper writes.
Patrick, who was 16 years old at the time of the murder, has been charged as an adult with two counts of murder, as well as two counts of aggravated assault. According to police, “mountains of physical and digital evidence” led to Patrick’s charges, including her emotional speech at her parents’ funeral.
The video was given to the newspaper by James Brock’s niece, Kristen Dauda. In an interview with the Daily Mail, she said she was “not surprised” when Patrick was arrested because “she pretended to cry at the funeral.”
“After their funeral, when I saw that someone had recorded it (the girl’s speech. — EADaily), I immediately saved it because I knew that one day everyone would see it for what it was.… Has anyone else seen this man imitating a crying voice but not shedding a single tear?” said the woman.
The footage shows Patrick, dressed in a modest pale blue mini dress, climbing into the pulpit during a March 8 afternoon service at the Catalyst Church in Carrollton, where the Brocks were very active parishioners. Footage from the funeral service shows Patrick allegedly wiping tears from his face as he remembers his mother and stepfather. When she addressed the audience, her voice seemed to falter, the newspaper writes.
“I just wanted to say goodbye to my mom and James, since we didn’t have the opportunity,” the girl said and, addressing her mother and stepfather directly, added, “I’m so used to you guys always being here that I… never would have thought that you were all here.” there won’t be, and I had no idea how much I needed you until now.”
According to Dauda, she was so enraged to see Sarah “fake crying” in front of everyone that she left the funeral right after that.
People say that Sarah is “just a little girl,” but “a monster can be a little girl in a dress,” Dauda noted. She categorically dismissed the suspicion that her stepfather might mistreat her stepdaughter.
As Carroll County Public Relations director Ashley Halsey stated at a press conference after Patrick’s arrest, “mountains of evidence” were brought to him. She does not rule out new detentions.
“It is possible that as this investigation continues, new arrests and charges may be made,” Halsey said.
According to her, the motive has yet to be determined and it is still unclear whether other family members were involved in the murders.
