Germans out! Dozens of shops and cars in Mallorca have been spray-painted with threats

In the municipality of Santanyi in Mallorca, unknown individuals have painted threatening messages on dozens of shops and cars with German license plates owned by Germans. This was reported by the DPA news agency, citing the local police.

Among the messages are “Germans out” and “Foreign buyers go to hell,” the Mallorca Zeitung newspaper notes.

Incidents of this kind have been recorded in more than 20 locations in the community, known as a favorite place for Germans to live on the Spanish island, one of the victims said.

“It’s scary to feel such a wave of hatred after 34 years on the island, where I pay taxes and employ nine people,” the man was quoted as saying by DPA.

Mallorca is a popular resort among Germans, but in recent years locals have become increasingly unhappy with the influx of tourists and expats, the DW Glavnoye Telegram channel writes. Thousands of protesters take to the streets to protest against housing shortages, and attacks on tourists are reported.
