Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made it clear to the head of EU diplomacy Kaja Kallas that Beijing does not benefit from Russia’s defeat in the conflict in Ukraine.
This statement is cited by the South China Morning Post newspaper, citing sources. According to the publication, Wang Yi told Kallas that China cannot afford such an outcome of the confrontation.

During four hours of talks on a wide range of geopolitical and commercial issues, Wang gave Kallas “history lessons and lectures,” the sources said. Two officials said some EU officials felt “he gave her a lesson in realpolitik, partly related to Beijing’s belief that Washington will soon turn its attention entirely to the East,” the paper wrote.
