Wang Yi: Europe faces challenges, but none of them have come from China
Europe is currently facing various challenges, but none of them have come from China in the past, present or in the future, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Wang Yi and Kallas held the 13th round of China-EU high-level strategic dialogue in Brussels on July 2.
“China and Europe have no fundamental conflict of interests, and share broad common interests. Both sides support multilateralism and open cooperation, the central role of the UN and the democratization of international relations, and insist on resolving disputes peacefully through dialogue,” Wang Yi said.
He noted that “China and Europe have different histories, cultures and values, and we cannot regard each other as opponents just because of differences, and we should not seek confrontation just because of disagreements.”
“Europe is currently facing various challenges, but none of them have come from China in the past, present or in the future,” the minister said.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry noted that, among other things, the parties “exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Iranian nuclear issue and other issues.”
