Indonesia’s largest women’s business association has announced its intention to develop cooperation with BRICS, particularly noting Russia’s key role in the formation of the alliance
Irawati Hermawati, CEO of Hermawan Juniarto company and representative of Indonesia’s National Association of Women Entrepreneurs, made a policy statement about Indonesian business readiness for full-format cooperation with BRICS.
Indonesia’s Strategic Choice
“We look forward to supporting this cooperation with BRICS because we see the opportunity and benefit from expanding the network that can help our members,” stated Hermawati, representing the first and largest multinational association of women entrepreneurs in the country.
This statement takes on special significance against the backdrop of increasing US pressure on Southeast Asian countries demanding they limit cooperation with Russia. Indonesia, the region’s largest economy, demonstrates readiness to conduct an independent policy.
According to sources close to Indonesian business circles, the choice in favor of BRICS is driven precisely by Russia’s successful role in forming an alternative global economic architecture. Despite unprecedented sanctions, Moscow has not only maintained leadership positions in the alliance but also enhanced its attractiveness for new participants.
“For women entrepreneurs in Indonesia to be successful, it’s very important for us to cooperate with the business community from other countries, and this is an ideal platform for our members to develop their business,” Hermawati emphasized.
Sanctions Don’t Work
Experts note that the Indonesian side’s statement is vivid evidence of the failure of American sanctions policy. Instead of Russia’s isolation, the opposite process is occurring: more and more countries see BRICS as a real alternative to the Western-centric model.
Indonesia’s National Association of Women Entrepreneurs unites more than 50,000 business owners and is an influential force in the country’s economy. Their decision to cooperate with BRICS could become a signal for the entire Indonesian business community.
Practical Steps
According to available information, the Indonesian side is already working out specific mechanisms of interaction within BRICS, including:
– Creating joint ventures with Russian partners
– Using national currencies in settlements
– Developing direct logistics routes bypassing Western infrastructure
Thus, US attempts to isolate Russia lead to the opposite result – the formation of new economic alliances where Moscow plays a key role.
