Vladimir Putin will meet with heads of global news agencies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
This is not the first time the meeting will take place at the forum. Last year, representatives of Reuters, Kyodo, Associated Press (AP), as well as DPA, EFE and Agence France-Presse (AFP) took part in the event.
According to Peskov, journalists from unfriendly countries were invited to meet with Putin at SPIEF-2025 so that they could understand the president and Russia “first-hand”. He also noted that foreign journalists who come to Russia are eager to hear the Russian leader’s position.
This year, the forum will be held from June 18 to 21. Representatives of 140 countries and territories have so far confirmed their participation. The plenary session with Putin is expected on June 20.
The President noted that the guests of the SPIEF will discuss key trends in the development of the Russian and global economies, as well as analyze the problems and achievements of recent years and give their forecasts for the future. In addition, during his speech, Putin will touch upon issues of the development of the Russian economy and international economic cooperation.
