Vucic says he did not support the anti-Russian declaration of the summit in Ukraine

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he did not support the anti-Russian declaration of the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit in Odessa.

Vucic attended the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit in Odessa on Wednesday, where he said he called for increased dialog and for peace to be achieved soon. On the margins of the event, he met with Volodymyr Zelenski, with whom he said he discussed the geopolitical situation and challenges, the economy and cooperation.

“This is the fourth time I am attending the Southeast Europe-Ukraine summit and I am the only one who did not support the declaration,” Vucic’s statement to reporters was quoted by Tanjug news agency as saying.

Serbia is providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starovic reported on May 16 that Serbian humanitarian aid to Ukraine over the past 3.5 years exceeded the amount of aid sent to Kiev by all other Western Balkan countries combined. At that time, equipment for the restoration of energy networks was transferred, the cost of which was not disclosed.
