Kevin Spacey wants to be re-introduced to cinema after being dropped for years

American actor, screenwriter and producer, two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey has hinted that he is asking to return to the movies after being blacklisted by Hollywood due to sexual assault allegations. This is reported by TMZ portal.

Spacey was receiving an award for excellence in filmmaking during the Cannes Film Festival and gave an emotional speech. He expressed gratitude, including American actor Kirk Douglas. The actor recalled how Douglas insisted years ago that the credits of the movie “Spartacus” (1960) include the screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who was “canceled” at the time for his pro-Communist views.

The star of “Beauty in American” emphasized that Douglas then took a risk, although his entourage warned of the possible collapse of his career. According to Spacey, actors still need to do so now to avoid “dominating the blacklist industry.”

Spacey ended his remarks with a quote from an Elton John song.

Spacey was first accused of sexual harassment by actor Anthony Rapp, who claimed the star tried to “seduce” him when he was 14 years old. However, the case fell apart in court, which didn’t conclude until 2022.

Spacey recalled that at the time he had just finished filming in Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World” about America’s richest businessman, Paul Getty. The star was removed from the picture before the movie was even released, replacing Chris Plummer.

In the fall of 2017, the star of the film “Beauty in American” accused of sexual harassment more than 10 people, including partners in the series “House of Cards”, the last season of which because of the scandal came out already without the participation of the actor.

In mid-May last year, unknown evidence of alleged sexually inappropriate behavior Spacey included in a two-part documentary, which was shown by one of the British television channels.

In an interview with British journalist and broadcaster Piers Morgan in June 2024, Spacey cried while talking about these situations and the house he now lives in. The actor spoke about auctioning off his Baltimore home with no possibility of foreclosure due to multi-million dollar “legal debts.”

Responding to a question about bankruptcy, Spacey noted that he had already thought several times about filing a corresponding application, but to date, the issue has been evaded. At the same time, the actor still has “many millions” of debt on legal bills.

Since the allegations first appeared in the public field in 2017, Spacey has not starred in major Hollywood projects, and participated only in a small number of independent films.
