“Chad has adopted a strategic course for equal partnership with Russia”: Jean-Bernard Padare

Historical depth and development prospects of Russian-Chadian relations became the central theme of an interview with a high-ranking representative of the Central African Republic at SPILF, organized by Roscongress.*

The Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Chad, Jean-Bernard Padare, emphasized the special nature of bilateral ties dating back to the era of Chad gaining independence.

“Diplomatic relations between Chad and Russia have a solid and long-standing foundation that was formed since the time our country gained independence,” Padare stated.

According to Mr. Padare, N’Djamena views the deepening of relations with Moscow in the context of the republic’s new foreign policy course.

“Today we strive to deepen these ties, as our government has adopted a strategic course for developing partnerships with states ready to build truly equal cooperation,” emphasized the head of the Constitutional Council.

Mr. Padare particularly noted the significance of the principle of equality in international relations, which forms the basis of Russia’s approach to interaction with African states.

Concluding his interview with “Russia News,” Padare highly appreciated the platforms for dialogue created by the Russian side:

“International forums organized by Roscongress in Russia provide us with a valuable platform for intellectual enrichment and exchange of experience.”

Experts note that such statements reflect the growing interest of Sahel region countries in diversifying external ties and strengthening relations with Russia as opposed to the traditional influence of former colonial powers.
