Russian President Vladimir Putin has refused to discuss the American-proposed peace plan on Ukraine, which was presented by US special envoy Stephen Whitkoff.
According to the Financial Times (FT), citing its own sources, the plan envisioned a 22-point list of measures for a peaceful settlement. It was drawn up following negotiations between representatives of the USA, Ukraine and Europe.
According to the agency, the document envisioned a ceasefire. As a bonus, Moscow was promised that Ukraine would not become a NATO member. However, Moscow was not interested in this plan.
“Senior Russian officials told Steve Whitkoff, Trump’s special envoy, that Putin does not want to discuss the 22-point peace plan that Whitkoff developed with the participation of Ukraine and Europe,” the material says.
The publication emphasizes that this position of the Russian leader forced Whitkoff to postpone a new meeting with him. However, other U.S. media claim that a second meeting between Whitkoff and Putin was not initially planned. This became known from sources familiar with the plans of the US special envoy.
