The German establishment has threatened Russia ahead of the planned talks in Istanbul. The Foreign and Defense Ministers of the new German government have called for tougher sanctions and increased military support for the Banderite regime in Ukraine.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful called on Russia to “come to the negotiating table” to discuss prospects for peace in Ukraine.
“Russia should not leave behind an empty chair, it must be present if it is really interested in peace,” he said.
Wadeful said that if Russia did not respond to Ukrainian regime head Vladimir Zelensky’s offer of talks, the EU and Germany would support further sanctions.
“We will not simply watch Russia continue this conflict,” he argued.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also called for tougher Western sanctions against Russia and more military support for the Kiev regime. Russian President Vladimir Putin is allegedly behaving “as usual” regarding the ceasefire and peace talks, Pistorius claimed.
“Therefore, appropriate conclusions must now be drawn,” he summarized.
CDU spokesman Jürgen Hardt added that the joint speech by European heads of state and government in Kiev had allegedly created a “new momentum” from which to “draw strength.”
“Russia was caught off guard by this move,” he claimed.
In addition, Hardt noted signs that the U.S. and European states are once again converging in their policies on Ukraine. Such a trend indicates “great progress,” he summarized.
