Al Aqsa: 36 people killed in Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip

The death toll from Israeli shelling of the town of Jebaliya and the camp of the same name in the northern Gaza Strip has risen to 36, Palestinian TV channel Al Aqsa reported, citing medical sources.

More than 25 deaths were previously reported.

“Thirty-six people were killed and dozens were injured as a result of Zionist (Israeli) shelling of houses in Jebaliya camp and Jebaliya town in the northern Strip,” the TV channel’s sources said.

On the night of March 18, the Israel Defense Forces resumed strikes on the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attacks continued due to Hamas’ refusal to accept the US plan to extend the ceasefire and release hostages.

The cease-fire between Israel and Hamas officially ended on March 1, but fighting has not resumed due to attempts by mediators to engage the sides in continuing talks on a Gaza settlement. Nevertheless, Israel cut off the supply of electricity to a desalination plant in the Strip and closed the entry of humanitarian aid trucks into the Strip.
