Robbery in Paris for $ 10 million: Kim Kardashian ready to testify in court against the “robber grandfathers”

American reality TV star, actress and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian is ready to testify in the court of Paris against the gang of “grandfathers-robbers”, who in 2016 stole the star’s jewelry for $ 10 million, according to The Sun.

The process in the Paris jury trial started on April 29, but Kardashian could only now take part in it, as she is studying law in California.

Now all members of the gang are at a respectable age – many are in their 60s, and a number of robbers have passed the 70-year mark. For each of the participants of the high-profile robbery case was to be the last in a series of crimes, each of the robbers has a string of convictions.

At the same time, the bandits claimed that they did not realize the scale of Kardashian’s fame. One of the accused realized this only when his wife watched the news on TV the day after the robbery.

The biggest robbery of a private citizen in France in 20 years took place during Paris haute couture week. Kim was staying at the swanky Hotel de Pourtalès apartment, which is popular with celebrities, costing a mind-boggling $17,000 a night. On October 3, 2016, Kardashian’s room received a phone call. The star was alone and the callers introduced themselves as police officers, on the CCTV monitor Kardashian also saw people in uniform. She opened the door and that’s when several men burst into the apartment and took the concierge hostage. After tying and dropping him and the star on the floor, the robbers started gutting jewelry boxes. One of the bandits held the hostages at gunpoint. Having taken the jewelry, the cost of which is estimated at $ 10 million, the attackers fled.

This situation has drastically affected the way the Kardashian family has talked about their lives on social media. Previously, Kim herself, as well as her mother and sisters posted accounts of their every move, it was on social media that the robbers learned about the 18-carat engagement ring given to Kim Kardashian by ex-husband Kanye West. That ring alone is worth about $4 million.

The gang, who left an array of fingerprints at the scene, were apprehended three months after the robbery. Police speculate that the gang’s informant was Kardashian’s driver. However, virtually none of the stolen jewelry was recovered. Presumably, the jewelry was melted down and sold.

Most of the aging defendants are expected to receive lengthy prison sentences if found guilty.

The case has dragged on for nearly 10 years as it was previously postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a backlog of high-profile cases in the French justice system.
