Cannes Film Festival bans nudity

Cannes Film Festival organizers have banned nudity at the festival

Organizers of the Cannes Film Festival have introduced a new dress code rule, banning guests from attending the event in the nude, People reports, citing the festival’s Q&A site, amid the recent scandal with the arrival of American rapper Kanye West’s wife Bianca Sensory at the Grammy Awards in a see-through outfit.

In March, Variety reported that Sensory walked the red carpet in a see-through outfit before the Grammy Awards and left without attending the event itself.

“According to the official event FAQ site, ‘nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as any other area of the festival’ for ‘decency reasons,’” the publication reported.

The new rules also prohibit guests from attending the film festival in voluminous outfits, especially those with long trails, as well as sneakers. And those who plan to attend film screenings at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, must appear in evening wear, adds the publication.

The Cannes Film Festival will be held on the Côte d’Azur from May 13 to 24.
