‘It’s happening’: Britain sounded the alarm over Ukraine failure

Times: Keir Starmer’s plan to send peacekeepers to Ukraine has failed

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s plan to introduce peacekeeping forces to Ukraine has failed, writes the British newspaper The Times.

“This is what is now happening to Sir Keir Starmer as he watches his lauded coalition of the willing to deploy a powerful European peacekeeping force to Ukraine evaporate,” the publication says.

According to the publication, calls by Britain and France for other European countries to make a substantial contribution to the alleged security of post-war Ukraine are not being answered, and the impossibility of implementing the plan was clear from the start.

“Sir Keir dug himself a hole by talking tough before engaging in diplomatic and military running around,” summarizes the author of the material.

Earlier, the Times reported that after talks in London, the European “coalition of the willing” is reconsidering plans to send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.

As the publication noted, some officials are worried that Russia will consider the British-French mission unilateral and will not accept it. But according to a military source, London is not ready to abandon plans to send troops to Ukraine.

In late March, French President Emmanuel Macron said following a Paris summit of a “coalition of the willing” that several countries intend to send deterrent forces to Ukraine. According to him, they will not replace Ukrainian troops and will not be peacekeepers. Their goal will be to deter Russia, and the contingent will be deployed in strategic locations predetermined with the Ukrainians. Macron added that not everyone agrees with this initiative, but it is not necessary for its implementation.
