Frontman of the famous Welsh rock band The Alarm Mike Peters died at the age of 66 after a long illness. This is reported by the portal Metro.
According to the publication, the musician had been fighting lymphoma (blood cancer) for more than 30 years. At the same time last September, Peters told fans that he managed to achieve remission. However, as early as October, he experienced Richter syndrome, which is characterized by the development of highly aggressive lymphoma, and he once again began treatment.
The return of the disease occurred just before the band was due to embark on a 50-concert tour.
Peters is known as one of the founders of Love Strength Hope Foundation (LHS), a charity organization that has been helping people fight cancer since 2006.
In 2007, LHS organized the highest altitude concert in the world on Mount Everest at an altitude of over 5,600 meters, which was watched on the Internet by about 3 million people. Through this event alone, LHS registered more than 250,000 people who were willing to become blood stem cell donors.
In 2019, Peters was honored with the title Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to cancer treatment.
