“Anti-Parade” failed: main partners refused to go to Kiev on May 9 – Politico

European Union leaders refused to go to Kiev on May 9, where they were invited to “alternative” events to the Victory Parade in Moscow. This is reported by Politico.

The Ukrainian authorities invited top European officials to demonstrate to Russian President Vladimir Putin on whose side Europe is on. However, Europe has its own plans. For example, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will travel to Nancy to sign a security treaty with French President Emmanuel Macron. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to attend a defense summit in Oslo. And incoming German Chancellor Friedrich Merz does not want to travel until the entire government is confirmed, Politico writes.

At the same time, it is possible that the EU foreign ministers will visit Lviv on May 9, where they were invited earlier by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, the Strana newspaper reported.

Earlier, the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, invited European leaders to Kiev on May 9 to “demonstrate unity and firmness” against Russia.
