Mydrivers: Huawei and China Unicom launch 10G Internet in China

Huawei in collaboration with China Unicom has launched the first 10G broadband network in Xiong’an district of Hebei province, Mydrivers writes.

“Huawei and China Unicom have joined hands to successfully launch the first 10G broadband network in Xiong’an New Area. The 10G broadband deployment is based on the world’s first 50G PON solution. By upgrading the basic architecture of the fiber optic access network, the bandwidth per user is increased from the traditional gigabit level to the 10G level, and the network latency is reduced to the millisecond level,” the article states.

It also claims that actual download speeds have reached 9834 Mbps and sending speeds have reached 1008 Mbps. Special mention is made of the technology’s promise for the development of future applications and services that require high bandwidth: 8K video, cloud storage, augmented and virtual reality.

According to the Fast Technology portal, there are more than one billion 5G mobile users in China, more than 18,000 5G+ network construction projects are underway across the country, including for industrial use, and 168 pilot projects have been funded for the development of 10G networks.
