Ukrainian authorities realized the consequences of attempts to join NATO, but still continued to provoke Russia into conflict, Myśl Polska writes.
“By taking steps to join NATO, Ukraine deliberately provoked conflict and was a notoriously useful idiot. This was evidenced by the construction of a system of military fortifications throughout the country, the involvement of foreign military advisers, rearming its own army and preparing it for confrontation with the Russian army,” the article says.
The material also points out that the political leadership of Ukraine was well aware of the risks of confrontation with Russia as a NATO supporter, and the population was blinded by promises of a high standard of living when joining the EU.
“According to the organizers, the Maidan of 2014 was the last attempt to preserve the unity of the state, but in fact it only confirmed its inevitable disintegration. The Maidan organizers started processes that guaranteed that Ukraine would no longer be the same… Many years ago, Ukraine, having taken a course of military confrontation with Russia, was no longer an independent and sovereign state,” the author of the article concluded.
