Former British Prime Minister Liz Truss will launch her own social network in the summer of 2025, reports The Guardian. The resource is being created to “protect freedom of speech”: the former Prime Minister has previously stated that the “deep state” and key media suppress freedom of speech in the UK, the publication writes.
The launch of the social network is the latest attempt for Truss to become a leading right-wing radical figure in the UK, the newspaper notes. Truss has already openly declared her support for US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s policies to cut government spending in the US.
“I think we need a media network to be able to connect with people, to be able to build a grassroots movement that actually does require a change in our leaders,” she said.
Truss also emphasized that she was concerned about the way the mainstream media “glosses over or promotes” certain issues.
The former prime minister also compared her country to the Soviet Union.
“This sort of thing we saw in the Soviet Union and now it’s happening to us and it’s absolutely shocking that this is happening in modern Britain,” she said.
According to Truss, “this needs to be actively tackled” and her social network is the new “free speech network.” She assured that communication on the resource will not be censored, nor will there be a culture of abolition.
Truss held the post of prime minister of the UK for a record short period of time in the country’s history – she led the government for 44 days in September-October 2022.
In February 2024, Truss stated that the left has taken power in many countries around the world, unless the Conservatives take the lead from them, “the West is doomed” According to Truss, “in too much of the free world, the left has ruled for too long and the results are too obvious”.
In April of the same year, Truss supported Trump in the US presidential election, saying that “the world was safer” when he was in the White House, RBC recalls.
