Sky: the use of the Arctic by Russia and the United States may become a new challenge for Europe

The joint use of the Arctic by Russia and the United States may become a new challenge for the countries of Europe under the administration of US President Donald Trump, this opinion was expressed by Sky TV channel.

The TV channel speculates about the importance of the Arctic for the world because of its minerals, calling it a “huge prize.”

“The threat that Russia and America will share the Arctic in a great division of power is a new challenge for the countries of Europe under the Trump administration,” the channel said.

Sky also analyzes Trump’s plans for Greenland. According to it, both Trump and his Vice President JD Vance “need Greenland for security.” The TV station speculates that the Trump administration is interested in Greenland for minerals.

During a visit to the Pittufik. space base in Greenland on Friday, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said the U.S. must secure leadership in the Arctic for the next generation ahead.

Greenland was a colony of Denmark until 1953. It remains part of the kingdom, but was granted autonomy in 2009 with the possibility of self-government and independent choice of domestic policy.
