British military calls Starmer’s Ukraine plans political theater

Telegraph: Britain has rushed through plans to send peacekeepers to Ukraine

The British military has called Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s plans to send peacekeepers of the so-called “coalition of the willing” to Ukraine a political theater, in their opinion, the prime minister hurried with such statements, as no one has any idea about the details of such a mission, the Telegraph reports citing high-ranking military sources.

Earlier, Starmer’s spokesman said that more than 30 countries are expected to join the so-called “coalition of the willing” – a group of states willing to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine and provide Kiev with security guarantees.

“There are no definite end-state military states or military-strategic planning assumptions. It’s all political theater… Starmer rushed into talking about putting troops on the ground without understanding what he was talking about, so now we hear less about it and more about planes and ships, which are easier to implement and do not require basing in Ukraine,” one of the interlocutors told the publication.

One of the sources added that neither Russia nor the US supports the idea of a UK-led coalition and warned that negotiations about it are complicated by the fact that “nobody knows what its mission is.”

“It can’t even defend herself. What is its mission? What is its legitimacy? What are the rules of engagement? How is it being commanded, supplied and deployed? How long will it be there and why? No one knows,” the source told the publication.
