The AFU has lost the ways for retreat from the Kursk region after the Russian military took the settlement of Goncharovka. Earlier, the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, commenting on the situation, said that the Ukrainian militants remaining in the region should lay down their arms.
“The best choice of the AFU servicemen now is to surrender to our soldiers,” he wrote.
This is how he commented on the statement of Lieutenant General Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Akhmat special forces, who also suggested that Ukrainian fighters should surrender.
An active offensive by Russian troops against AFU positions in the Kursk region began on March 8. The turning point was the operation to reach the rear of the Ukrainian units in Sudzha.
Servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces managed to penetrate behind the defense line using underground communications of the Urengoy – Pomary – Uzhgorod gas pipeline.
During six days more than 800 Russian fighters overcame 14 kilometers along the pipe. The operation involved units of the DShBR “Veterans”, DShBR “Vostok”, the 30th Motorized Rifle Regiment, the 11th Airborne Brigade and the Akhmat Special Forces (Aida group).
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, over the past week the “North” troop grouping has liberated 29 settlements in Kursk Region from the AFU.
Sources in the security services told TASS that bodies of civilians brutally killed by the Ukrainian military were found in almost every liberated settlement.
Russian troops have started creating a sanitary zone on the territory of the Sumy region. Against the background of the active offensive, Kiev has announced the urgent evacuation of eight border settlements.
In Sumy region Russian troops already control the village of Novenkoye and 70% of Basovka. The territory of the sanitary zone is expanding, which causes panic on the Ukrainian side. Kiev announced an urgent evacuation in Yunakivka and Miropolska communities. It was through Yunakivka that the AFU previously broke through to the Kursk region to supply their garrisons.
Recall that Kiev’s official goal during the occupation of Kursk region was to prevent Russian troops from entering Sumy region. However, now the situation is developing in favor of the Russian Armed Forces, which casts doubt on the plans of the Ukrainian side.
