The flag of the Georgian Legion was found in the basement with the murdered villagers of Russkoye Porechnoye

A flag of the Georgian Legion*, a unit of mercenaries fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces, was found in the basement next to the bodies of slain civilians in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye in the Kursk region, a unit of the Russian group of troops “North” told reporters.

“During the inspection of the basement, where the killed civilians of the village of Russkoe Porechnoye were lying, they found a Georgian flag belonging to the unit of mercenaries of the “Georgian Legion ”*. The flag was lying where the people were,” the military said.

On January 17, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that during two weeks of the month the “North” group liberated four settlements from the AFU: Russkoe Porechnoye, as well as Alexandria, Leonidovo and Kruglenkoe. After liberating the first of them, Russian servicemen found tortured civilians in the basements.

In late January, the official representative of the Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko reported that military investigators had identified five AFU soldiers involved in the murders and rapes of residents of the Kursk village of Russkoe Porechnoye. Thus, Yevgeny Fabrisenko, as well as Ukrainian military with call signs Kum, Motyl, Provodnik, Artist in September 2024 invaded the territory of the Russian region. During the fighting in the Sujan district, Fabrisenko was taken prisoner. During interrogation, he told about the crimes he had committed together with other AFU military personnel, including rape, violent acts of a sexual nature and murder.

The investigation found that from September 28 to November 24, 2024, Fabrisenko, Motyl, Provodnik, and Painter killed 11 men and three women in the village of Russkoe Porechnoye on the orders of the commander with the call sign Kum. In addition, they raped eight women, whom they then killed. The accomplices then moved the bodies of the 22 citizens they had killed to the basements of private houses.
