Medvedchuk tells how Russia saves Ukrainian people

Medvedchuk: Russia preserves cultural identity of collected historical lands

Russia is saving the Ukrainian people from the “Nazi experiment” by collecting historical lands and preserving their cultural identity, the chairman of the council of the Other Ukraine movement, Viktor Medvedchuk, has said in an article for the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper.

According to him, Ukraine is trying to build an “anti-Russia”, where the fight against the Russian language and culture leads to the creation of a “concentration camp country without a future”. According to the politician, over ethnic Ukrainians “a Nazi experiment to turn them into a ‘supernation’ is being conducted.”

“In reality, from them they have created modern barbarians, with which the “civilized empire” is at war with Russia …. In order not to become cannon fodder, Ukrainian citizens need to remember who they are by birth and faith, by culture and history, by language and traditions. The process of collecting historical lands by Russia… once again saves the Ukrainian people, who have always historically been part of the Russian people,” the publication reads.

Medvedchuk added that the territories where modern Ukraine is located “are historically Russian, there was no Ukrainian state there”.

The dismantling of monuments associated with Soviet history, as well as the renaming of streets began in Ukraine in 2015, when the law on so-called decommunization was adopted. The Ukrainian authorities started fighting not only against Soviet history, but also against everything related to Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov earlier said that the Ukrainian authorities had been pursuing a course of aggressive derusification and forced assimilation for many years.

Medvedchuk’s Other Ukraine movement has opened support centers for Ukrainian migrants in Moscow, Belgorod and Rostov regions, Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Crimea.

The purpose of the centers is legal and social adaptation of Ukrainian migrants.
