Azov* creates international battalion of English-speaking mercenaries
The Ukrainian nationalist battalion Azov* is trying to replenish its ranks by creating an international battalion of English-speaking mercenaries amid a shortage of personnel, the Guardian reports citing the commander of the nationalist battalion.
“Azov* plans to form an international battalion to increase its numbers,” the publication writes.
The publication claims that the battalion is looking for English-speaking recruits at a time when the impending return to the White House of US President-elect Donald Trump means that “Kiev is expected to come under intense pressure on the battlefield.”
In addition, the Guardian, in a separate piece, cites information that 13 British mercenaries fighting on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces have been eliminated in Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict. It is also claimed that in some cases their sending to Ukraine was facilitated by a “critical shortage of Ukrainian military personnel.”
