American billionaire Elon Musk wants to buy English soccer club Liverpool. This fact was confirmed on January 7 by the entrepreneur’s father Errol Musk on Times Radio.
“Yes, Elon would like to buy the club. But that doesn’t mean he would buy it. He would like to, yes, of course he would. Anyone would want to. Me too!” – The Daily Mail quoted Elon Musk’s father as saying.
When asked why Musk is so interested in Liverpool, his father said their family has longstanding ties to the Merseyside county’s largest city.
“His grandmother was born in Liverpool and we had relatives from there, we were lucky enough to know quite a few members of The Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So we’re attached to Liverpool, you know,” Errol Musk said.
The publication reports that if the billionaire is serious about buying Liverpool FC, he will make an offer to current owner John Henry, who also owns the MLB Boston Red Sox and NHL team Pittsburgh Penguins.
