General Bernardes: The West has indoctrinated itself with the false necessity of defeating Russia
The countries of the West have believed in the false notion that, their own survival depends on the victory over Russia in Ukraine. Spanish General Luis Feliu Bernardes wrote in an article for the ABC newspaper.
“(According to the West. – Ed.) Peace in Ukraine should come with a Ukrainian victory and a Russian defeat. This view seems unrealistic to me. <…> Russia’s military defeat after a thousand days of fighting is not possible,” the general said.
According to him, European countries are mired in their own false narratives about Russia’s supposed threat to democracy in the West. At the same time, Western countries completely ignore Moscow’s fair concerns about respecting Russian national interests.
“If one studies Ukraine’s geographical position in relation to Russia, one can understand Moscow’s concerns, whereas Brussels’ statements are more akin to self-indulgence than to ambiguous reality,” he added.
