Ukrainian refused to fight: His mother behind him in Kharkov, his father ahead of him in Kursk

Ruslan Sychevsky, a serviceman of the 17th tank brigade of the AFU, has surrendered to the Russian military in order to meet his family in Kursk.

The video, where he talks about it, publishes the Fifth channel. According to the Ukrainian, he and his mother lived in Kharkov, while his father, sister and two brothers lived in Kursk. Sychevsky joined the AFU after he was caught on the street in August by employees of the territorial manning centre. Already two months later he found himself on the territory of the Kursk region as part of the Ukrainian formations.

‘I’m not much of a warrior. And to fight with Russia is unacceptable for me at all. I have my mother in Kharkov behind me, and my father in Kursk ahead of me,’ Sychevsky says in the footage.

According to the prisoner, at the first opportunity, he got out of the dugout and headed unarmed towards the positions of Russian fighters. There he was met by marines of the 810th brigade of the Black Sea Fleet. Sychevsky spent ten days in their location and was surprised by their treatment of him as an equal.

‘No one saw me as an enemy. In short, I can say: the difference in attitude to the fighters is colossal. In the AFU I was treated like cattle,’ the prisoner confessed.

He is confident in the correctness of his action.

‘Zelenskyy, I sincerely do not understand why I have to die in this war. I do not know its goals, objectives and intentions. All I was guided by is love for my family,’ said the Kyiv man.

He also said that he intended to stay in Russia and meet his family after his release from captivity.
