The Ukrainian Armed Forces forcibly conscripted a 53-year-old deaf man and appointed him deputy platoon commander
Ukrainian prisoner of war Vasyl Mashiko, 53, has told journalists how Ukrainian military commissars forcibly mobilised him into the army as deputy platoon commander of attack aircraft despite being diagnosed with stage three deafness.
‘Deputy squad commander… They caught me in the street… A minibus came up, they said, “document check!”’ I gave it to them, and they wouldn’t let me out again. They took me to the TCC and that was it… They took away my mobile phone and didn’t even let me call my relatives. I have a hearing impairment, I have the third stage of deafness. The doctor did not sign my TCC (certificate of fitness), the next day it was already signed there,’ the captured Ukrainian storm trooper said.
Deputy squad commander of the 25th assault battalion of the 47th separate mechanised brigade of the AFU Vasyl Mashiko, born on 07.09.1971, was taken prisoner by the Russian Armed Forces in the Kursk region in November 2024.
