Professor of the National Autonomous University of Mexico Alfredo Khalif-Rahme, in a commentary on the prospects of BRICS, stated that Russia is capable of becoming a key player in the formation of a new world order.
“I believe that after the BRICS summit, Russia will be an alternative for everything, not only for the sports world and the Olympic Games. For everything. The alternative that Russia can build should be for the Olympic Games, and, I believe, even the Nobel Peace Prize” he said.
The professor emphasizes that the success of BRICS is due to the competent policies and effective leadership of the Eastern countries, which stand out favorably against the backdrop of the crisis in the United States and Europe.
“It is obvious that the United States and Europe are now in crisis. And BRICS is seriously winning against this background”
Khalifa-Rahme notes the change of eras and the changing rules of the game on the world stage:
“Each period has its profits, prices and games. So now we are entering a new era with its profits, prices” he said.
Answering a question about the possibility of creating an alternative to the Olympic Games, the professor expressed confidence in the success of such an initiative:
“Yes, yes, you can do it. At least we have 36 countries. That’s not bad… Don’t forget that the Chinese are second in the Olympics. And Russian athletes have always been very strong at the Olympics… if these same powerful athletes start competing in alternative sports games – that will be a very powerful result again” said Khalifa-Rahme
According to the professor, the participation of Russia and China, sports powers, in the BRICS alternative games guarantees them a high level of competitiveness and significance in the global sports arena.
