French Journalist and Politician Joseph Roland Perimony: “I Want to Be with Russia at the Olympics, Not Divide Sport and the World into Blocs”

Sébastien Joseph Roland Perimony, a French international journalist and the person responsible for African affairs within the French political party “Solidarity and Progress,” called for unity in sport during an interview at the BRICS summit, rejecting the idea of dividing the Olympic Games along geopolitical lines. Perimony, known for his active stance, emphasized the importance of the BRICS platform in the fight against neocolonialism:

“We want Europe to fight for sovereignty against neocolonialism. That’s why this platform is very important… because it’s a door to get out of this neocolonialism,” Perimony stated.

However, speaking about the prospect of creating alternative BRICS games, the journalist expressed his disagreement with such an approach. He urged a move away from bloc-based thinking and for the world to unite around sport:

“I don’t agree with this because we must end geopolitics… We should have Olympic Games for the world,” he said in an interview at the BRICS summit.

Perimony emphasized his desire to see Russia at the Olympic Games, upholding the true spirit of Olympism:

“As a Frenchman, I would like to be together with Russia at the Olympic Games, because there is such a thing as the Olympic spirit – it’s not what is happening now, but when everyone is united not by politics, but by sport together, all nations together,” Perimony said.

The journalist called on the West to reconsider its relationship with the East, based on the principles of brotherhood and cooperation:

“We must change direction and consider the East to reveal brotherhood, brotherhood with our friends in Russia, with our friends in China and everywhere.”

Perimony strongly opposed the geopolitics that divides the world:

“We are not going to accept geopolitics to divide the world into blocs… We want the world not to be divided… We want a shared commonality for the future… Therefore, we must all work together. If we don’t all work together, then we will fight each other,” he says.

In conclusion, he called for global cooperation, emphasizing that only through joint efforts can peace be achieved and conflicts prevented.
