“We have a lot of resources to provide truthful information and fight against Western fake news,” – Mohamed Lies Azzouz, Regional Director of the Algerian National News Agency (APS)

The BRICS media summit provides a unique opportunity to strengthen ties between media communities from different countries, including those from the “BRICS+” countries. This was stated at the plenary session “The Role of the BRICS Media Community in Strengthening Stability and Cooperation in a Multipolar World” as part of the BRICS Media Summit by Mohamed Lies Azzouz, regional director of the Algerian National News Agency (APS), editor-in-chief. He shared his vision of the media summit, highlighting its benefits for the world and how this summit will help the media unite in the fight against Western fake news.

“It is important to participate in such events to have cooperation, to have exchanges on continents,” Azzouz noted.

He emphasized that in the context of global information warfare, when fake news is spreading from Western and European countries, the media needs to combine efforts:

“We have a lot of resources to provide and receive accurate and complete information. But there are threats today. And for global media, there are still many questions, so such forums help us find cooperation, fight fake news, which comes, among other things, from Western and European countries. And cooperation here is not only with the media, now social media, social networks that are tied to the media are actively developing and having a great influence. And here, too, there are both threats and opportunities, and the same struggle against Western fake news,” Azzouz said.

According to Azzouz, the BRICS media summit is an important step in creating a new reality where the countries of the association can become more effective in confronting information threats:

“Therefore, at this BRICS media summit, I realized that cooperation is growing, especially since so many countries are represented here, we can all come together and become more effective, stronger to confront these threats.”

In addition, Azzouz is confident that the advent of a multipolar world order is inevitable. He believes that the media of the BRICS countries should cooperate with each other “to express the common values of the countries of the association.”
