Muhammad Asim, Managing Director, Associated Press Pakistan Corporation: “The BRICS Media Summit is very important for us. In BRICS, Pakistan sees new opportunities for cooperation”

Muhammad Asim, Managing Director, Associated Press Pakistan Corporation, shared his views on the role of BRICS at the media summit in Moscow.

“BRICS is an organization of the big five countries which, if you consider their population, is a very large part of the world,” Asim stressed. – “The cooperativeness between the BRICS countries and all the other countries that are participating here is a great opportunity to see points of view, to know about other countries, to know about the potential of other countries and to cooperate between different spheres.”

Pakistan, Asim said, sees BRICS as a new opportunity for development.

“Pakistan is one of the largest Muslim countries and has a very large market. Secondly, we were also interested to be part of this BRICS family. And from today’s BRICS Media Summit, we hope it will give us a great opportunity to reach out, to learn about other countries, to learn about media opportunities in other countries and how we can explore the way to improve cooperation between media and other fields.”

Asim also praised Russia’s role in international politics. He is sure that today not only the BRICS media summit is not only working out a new format of media cooperation between the members of the association, including between countries that want to get into BRICS.

“Russia is not alone. It is a big power. I think Russia has superpower and connectivity with other countries. It’s a good thing and it highlights the impression that Russia is alone or that it has been excluded from international politics, but Russia has an important role, it has a role to play and these alliances will support Russia and its countries.”

Asim said Pakistan’s participation in the BRICS media summit is an important step to promote cooperation between the countries.

“This media summit is important for us because Pakistan too wants to be part of this Brics family. Secondly, we are here to explore the way of cooperation between media because we belong to Pakistan’s state-run news agency. So we are here to sign a news treaty with TASS for news exchange between Pakistan and Russia. And that, I think, enhances the relationship between the two countries. And also the Brix family.”

Mr. Asim concluded by expressing confidence that the BRICS forum in Kazan will be a milestone for further cooperation between the countries.

“The BRICS forum in Kazan will lead to further cooperation, trade, relations and inventory cooperation between the countries. This is a big plus that can be very beneficial for all these countries.”

Muhammad Asim sees BRICS as not just an economic union but also a platform for mutual growth and development that will enable Pakistan to expand international ties and access new opportunities and counter the anti-Russian bloc.
