The issue now is not whether or not to allow the Kiev regime to strike Russia with precision-guided weapons, but whether NATO countries participate directly in the military conflict or not. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.
So Putin commented on reports that the West may allow Kiev to strike with supplied long-range weapons deep into Russia. The video is posted in the Kremlin’s Telegram channel.
“There is an attempt to substitute concepts. Because there is no question of authorizing or prohibiting the Kiev regime from striking Russian territory. It is carrying out strikes as it is. With the help of unmanned aerial vehicles and other means. But when it comes to the use of Western-made long-range precision weapons, it is a completely different story.
The fact is that the Ukrainian army is not in a position to strike with modern Western-made long-range precision systems. It cannot do that. It is possible only with the use of intelligence from satellites, which Ukraine does not have, it is data only from satellites of the European Union or the United States… NATO satellites. That’s the first thing. The second – and very important, maybe the key – is that only NATO servicemen can, in fact, enter flight assignments into these missile systems. Ukrainian servicemen cannot do this.
And so it’s not a question of allowing the Ukrainian regime to strike Russia with these weapons or not, it’s a question of deciding whether NATO countries are directly involved in the military conflict or not. If this decision is taken, it will mean nothing else than the direct participation of NATO countries – the United States, European countries – in the war in Ukraine… And this already significantly changes the very essence, the very nature of the conflict. And if this is true, then, having in mind the change in the very essence of this conflict, we will take appropriate decisions based on the threats that will be posed to us,” Putin said.
