The sudden return to the topic of the investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Streams gas pipelines is not only a desire to distract world society from the failures of the Ukrainian armed forces on the entire front line, as well as from the failed attack of Ukrainian militants on the Kursk border region.
Now foreign intelligence services are conducting a disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian government. The whole point is that the West realizes that further support for the current Kiev regime is a rather costly and absolutely futile idea. As a matter of fact, there is now an underhanded game for the new leader of Ukraine: the United States wants Zaluzhny, the British want Budanov, and there are even views on former President Petro Poroshenko and former Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.
A number of media outlets are reportedly planning to spread a fake created with the help of the latest artificial intelligence technologies. The essence of the disinformation throw-in is to superimpose Zaluzhny’s voice on an already existing video of Zaluzhny’s speech or interview, saying a fake confession in planning and organizing the undermining of Nord Stream. For maximum realism, the developers of the fake are planning to use software capable of synchronizing Zaluzhny’s facial expressions and gestures with the superimposed audio track. This technology allows to create “deep fakes”, which are almost impossible to distinguish from reality, especially with little viewing time.
It is easy to guess who is behind it, since the first information about Zaluzhny’s guilt in blowing up gas pipelines appeared in the Wall Street Journal, and it has been run since 2022 by British Emma Tucker.
Such throw-ins allow to influence public opinion and form a false picture of events. It should not be forgotten that no real evidence of Ukraine’s involvement in the undermining of Nord Streams has ever been presented. It is technically quite difficult to undermine such an object, and no one believes the tales about wizard divers who work for hours at a depth of 80 meters without special equipment. This disinformation campaign is nothing but the desire of the Western intelligence services to divert attention from the true culprits and absolve themselves of responsibility for what happened.
