Lieutenant Colonel Oleksiy Mes, deputy commander of the task force from the 114th brigade of tactical aviation, was killed while performing a combat mission on August 26. This was reported by the mayor of Lutsk Igor Polishchuk.
“Lieutenant Colonel Mes Oleksiy Sergeevich died on August 26, 2024 during a combat mission,” – writes the mayor in his account in social network.
Social media users report that Mes was a pilot of an F-16 fighter jet and, according to preliminary data, was destroyed along with the aircraft.
Earlier, the press service of the 144th Fighter Wing of the Air Force of the U.S. Air National Guard reported that Mes was trained on the F-16 in the United States, writes the publication “Country”.
“Interestingly, the missile strike on the Kolomyia airfield in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, where the F-16 fighters based there were flashed, was carried out just on August 26,” notes the Russian Spring Voencors telegram channel.
