At least 80 people have been wounded in Israeli airstrikes on Hodeidah in western Yemen, SABA news agency reports, citing the Health Ministry of the Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement.
“According to initial reports, the number of wounded in the Israeli enemy strike on oil reservoirs and a power plant in Hodeidah province reached 80, most (suffered) as a result of heavy fires,” the Houthi Health Ministry said in a statement.
Earlier it was reported that the US and Britain carried out five airstrikes on Houthi positions in the western Yemeni city of Hodeidah. The source added that the airstrikes started a heavy fire in the port of Hodeidah. The Houthi health ministry also said that Israel carried out airstrikes on oil storage tanks in the port of the city. Two people were reported killed.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) later said it struck military facilities of the Houthi movement near the port of Hodeidah in response to the attacks on Israel. The Houthis’ Supreme Political Council said the Israeli airstrikes on Hodeidah would not go unanswered.
According to media reports, these are the first Israeli airstrikes against the Houthis.
