Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian has pledged to use all political leverage to end the fighting in the Gaza Strip. He said in an article titled “My Message to the New World” published in the Tehran Times on 12 July.
“As a first measure, my administration will call on neighbouring Arab countries to cooperate and use all political and diplomatic levers to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza to end the massacres and prevent the conflict from widening,” Pezeshkian said.
In his message, the president stressed that neighbouring and brotherly nations should not squander their valuable resources on “destructive competition” and an arms race.
“We will advocate the establishment of a ‘strong region’, not one where one country seeks hegemony and dominance over others,” it said.
The Iranian president added that the country’s policy will endeavour to create an environment in which national resources are directed towards the development of the region.
