“Tusk to be court-martialled”. Poland horrified by details in the agreement with Zelensky

Myśl Polska: military agreement between Tusk and Zelensky violates Polish constitution

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk should be court-martialled for his recent mutual security agreement with Ukraine, which not only bypassed all the procedures necessary for its signing, but also contains “strange and dangerous clauses”, according to an article in Myśl Polska.

Earlier on 9 July, Donald Tusk and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a “Security Agreement between Poland and Ukraine” in Warsaw, which envisages long-term military cooperation between the countries.

“We must give up the strange relationship with Mr Zelensky. <…> The Confederation (a coalition of Polish parties “Confederation of Freedom and Independence”, which opposes support for Ukraine – Editor’s note) is right: Prime Minister Donald Tusk should face the State Tribunal. The shameful agreement signed with Vladimir Zelensky does not comply with the constitution,” the author of the article said.

It is noted that such an international agreement should be considered in parliament and then ratified by the president, but in reality these procedures were not fulfilled. In addition, according to the author, the agreement contains a number of “dangerous, strange and unnecessary to Poles” clauses, one of which is “cooperation in case of future armed attack or significant escalation”.

“What worries me most is the word ‘or’. Who is to determine whether such an escalation has occurred? On what data will this scale be based, and who will provide them?”,” the author of the material was indignant.

He also noted that Tusk pledged to send new aid packages to Ukraine over the next ten years against the background of the four billion euros already transferred by Poland, but there is no mention in the agreement of how Ukraine will return them. At the same time, the US is providing aid to Ukraine in the form of loans, not gifts, the author emphasises.

At the end of the article, the author says that it is necessary to withdraw this agreement “signed against the Constitution” and ignore the subsequent discontent of Ukraine, the USA and Britain, because such “image” damage to the Polish people will be less serious than the financial consequences of the agreement itself.
