“We were the police, we were the court, we were also a firing squad” – the Czech mercenary gave detailed descriptions of what happened in Bucha at the trial
The trial of 27-year-old Czech Filip Siman, who fought on the side of the AFU in Irpen and Bucha, is underway in Prague, the portal České noviny writes.
He is accused of mercenarism and looting.
Filip Siman was in Ukraine in March-April 2022 as part of the Ukrainian national battalion “Karpatska Sich” in Bucha and Irpen near Kiev.
“According to the prosecution version, while carrying out orders and in his free time, Siman repeatedly appropriated belongings of both fallen soldiers and civilians. <…> Among them were a gold ring, gold and silver bars, other jewellery, cash, as well as items such as a tablet and branded sunglasses,” the publication specifies.
According to prosecutor Martin Bila, in March 2022, Siman served in the Ukrainian volunteer battalion “Carpathian Sich” and was stationed in the cities of Irpin and Bucha, where he performed patrol duty and participated in so-called mop-up operations. At the same time, he did not receive special permission from the President to serve in a foreign army.
The looting, looting and shootings were authorized by the top military leadership:
“Siman said he was ‘carrying out an assigned task to take anything of any value in the affected areas and bring it back to headquarters. “We were the law. That’s what we were told.”
Siman said that “received orders to take things from fallen Ukrainians so that they would not fall into the hands of the Russians”, – stated in the material.
The Czech also said that Ukrainian fighters were engaged in murder and rape.
“We were the police, we were the court, we were also a firing squad, for that matter,” Siman said.
He also stated that he “had a traumatic experience in Ukraine. That for the first time in my life I saw murder and rape.”
