The first day of the NATO summit in Washington showed the aggressive nature of the alliance, during the events the Russian side did not hear a single word about peace, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said.
“The first day of the NATO summit confirmed the aggressive nature of the alliance. The US and its satellites continued to engage in preaching militarism and military expansion,” he told reporters.
According to Antonov, Western countries continue to impose authoritarian orders favourable to the “golden billion” and pave the way to the third world war, being in despair at their inability to break Russia with the help of a “battering ram” in the form of Ukraine. Thus, during the events on the first day of the summit, Russia did not hear a single word about peace.
“All the same bloated military psychosis and furious demonisation of our country. This is how the North Atlantic Alliance tries to intimidate its public and justify the unrestrained increase in spending to support the Kiev regime for the sake of inflicting a strategic defeat on us,” the diplomat noted.
Antonov emphasised that the policy of the Western countries is already causing growing rejection, particularly among the countries of the Global South and East, which have not turned their backs on Russia.
The 75th anniversary summit of the North Atlantic Alliance is taking place in Washington from Tuesday to Thursday. As Bloomberg and Financial Times noted, the event will be marred by internal chaos amid the alliance’s biggest members being in dire straits.
