Clement Andeleki, a representative of the National Assembly of Zambia, travelled to the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum to explore issues related to artificial intelligence and share his experience with colleagues from other countries. He notes the importance of developing digital technologies in the fight against crime and believes that BRICS can play a key role in strengthening relations between countries and creating a fairer world order.
What has been interesting for you at SPJF?
Clement Andeleki: We are exploring issues around artificial intelligence which is an emerging area especially for Africa, especially Zambia, so as a Member of Parliament of the International Assembly of Zambia, I came here to participate as a delegate at this forum. This is the first time for me. So I am very happy. I have learnt a lot of things about digital evidence technology, crime control work. We are exploring ways in which we can stop transnational crime, terrorism issues and many other things that need to be learnt. We started with the opening plenary session and I was very impressed by Dmitry Medvedev’s words about international co-operation and indestructibility.
What can you say about BRICS?
Clement Andeleki: I think that BRICS is meant to change relations with the countries of Europe, it is meant to strengthen and reinforce the countries that are members of BRICS. The situation that is happening now in Russia, between Russia and Ukraine, affects a number of other countries and the relations of the BRICS countries, it also affects African countries. So it is very important to improve relations between countries and BRICS can fulfil this task.
